Udemy and Coursera are good places to check, but I can't recommend any specific course as my training predates the existence of these platforms. There are lots of great (and affordable) video series for this. From there you can move on to more specific lessons tailored to the particular music he wants to make. With regards to lessons: start with the basics: entry-level music theory. What should I be looking into?
